Mice, we all need them. A lot of people don't give much consideration to mice when making a PC purchase. I still know a few people that are happy with the old ball mice. Ever since I got my first optical mouse for $10, which lasted all of 2 months, I can't go back to using a ball mouse. When my cheapie mouse died I decided I had to have an optical mouse. So off I went and got my first Logitech mouse, I was so impressed by it, and so happy with it. Every mouse that I have bought subsequently was a Logitech brand mouse. My current mouse is the MX 1000, but for review today I have the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse. The G5 is targeted specifically at gamers, with adjustable resolutions for various gaming situations, and a series of weights that can be added or removed depending on the user's preference. Well let's take a look at it shall we?
Specs from Logitech site:
"Adjust the weight and balance to win your game! The Logitech G5 Laser Mouse gives you the edge with a 2000 dpi laser engine sending out an astounding 500 USB reports per second for precision response at blinding speeds"
2000 dpi laser engine
An ultra-high resolution engine churns images at an astounding 6.4 megapixels per second. A massive (30-pixel by 30-pixel) sensor array and precision laser technology provides best-in-class performance and tracking.
In-game sensitivity switching
The G5 provides instant access to three sensitivity levels— 400 dpi, 800 dpi, and 2000 dpi—before driver installation. Shift from pixel-precise targeting to fast-twitch maneuvers, without pausing the action
Adjustable weight cartridge
Adjust the G5s weight and balance (up to 36 grams) for the control you need to dominate the competition
Polytetrafluoroethylene gaming feet
Forget sticky workarounds—the G5's durable polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) feet give the ultra-smooth glide you want in a gaming mouse
A 500 reports/second, bi-directional connection delivers blazing speed and instant acceleration.
