Introduction

The iPhone has been out for a while and Apple has just announced the new iPhone 2.0. Many people are excited about the 2.0 firmware for both versions of the iPhone because they will be able to download applications for their iPhone for mobile use. Well I'm sure you have heard about people jailbreaking their iPhone's. That is the first thing that I did when I got my iPhone! Jailbreaking opens up the iPhone so you can put third party applications on it. There are a ton of applications out there, but we have a list of 5, which are our favorites.

SummerBoard

One of the coolest things I liked about my Windows smart phone was that I was able to download themes onto it. SummerBoard is an extension to the iPhone's SpringBoard user experience. SummerBoard adds a variety of useful and fun features to your iPhone, including scrolling icons, wallpaper and themes! If you are stuck with the boring iPhone theme you should check out SummerBoard.

Mobile Chat

If you are like me you use messaging clients a lot. Although there are a lot of mobile messaging apps out there Mobile Chat is my favorite and works the best. You can add accounts from AIM, .MAC, XMPP, MSN, and ICQ. Mobile chat works really well, even on AT&T's SLOW edge service. If you have tried other messenger clients and are unsatisfied make sure you check out mobile chat.

Ringtones

Another thing that many people want on their phones is custom ringtones. I have used many different ringtone apps but the Ringtones app from the Skrew source seems to work the best out of all of them. You can even take current songs on your iPhone and cut clips out of them for your ringtones, all from your iPhone! It is really easy to use. To get it to show up in the applications list you need to add the Skrew source (http://i.danstaface.net).

SendPics

One thing that I really did not like about the iPhone was that I was unable to e-mail pictures to myself and friends at full size, the iPhone would resize them. I also send a lot of pictures to Flickr and Facebook via e-mail and I want them to be the full size. SendPics is a simple application that allows you to e-mail photos at the full size. It's just simple and easy, but very convenient.

Mobile Twitter

Now you may be thinking why do you need a Twitter application when you can txt updates to Twitter easily. Well with Mobile Twitter you are able to view all of the updates from the people you follow, check replies and direct messages, and of course update your status. Mobile Twitter also has TwitPic built in so you can upload a picture that you have taken on your iPhone and it will be uploaded to TwitPic and a URL will be generated for you to use in your update.

Well those are our 5 favorite iPhone applications. If you have any that you think should be on this please let us know in the comments below.
