MOD DETAILS
Idea/Inspiration: Previously built an ATM Machine server mod and wanted to do something bigger and better this time around. Kicked around some ideas one day and came up with the R2D2 design.
- Incomplete and still under construction.
- Overall goal is to be able to drive it around while serving a Battlefield 2 server at the same time.
- Under construction for 2 years, including research and development time.
- 200-400 man hours total time of work so far.
- Remote controlled and drivable with wheels and motors.
- Almost all handmade with a custom made dome (on the top).
- Feet shells are recycled computer cases (old Gateways) that have been reconstructed.
- A projector will be installed soon to re-enact R2D2's hologram projection.
- Other plans include an LED array on the front that will scroll messages and a sound system with custom software that plays back authentic R2D2 beeps.
- Is waiting on a 12V battery system, but when plugged in through the ports in the back has already run great running a 20-player BF2 server.
