Microsoft was present at CES this year, but didn't announce anything major. We did get the first major look at Windows 7, as well as a look at upcoming things from Microsoft Auto. There's also a new set-top box on the way.
A new Ford vehicle was on display with a fully LCD informational interior. All of the dashboard and center console are touchscreen LCDs. Microsoft hopes to see this technology in vehicles within five to seven years. It has partnered with Ford, Fiat, Hyundai, and Kia to bring this technology to market. One of the neatest features is that the system will read email and SMS through the car's speakers.
Microsoft displayed some existing center console models driven by Windows CE, just like the next-gen system is.
The XBox 360 continues to be popular. It recently received a massive dashboard update which was well-received by most users. Visitors to the booth enjoyed the recently released Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 and Fallout 3, as well as Gears of War 2 at the gaming section of the booth.
