OCZ Vertex 460 240 GB Solid State Drive Review

Testing – ATTO Disk Benchmark & CrystalDiskMark
Next up we have ATTO Disk Benchmark that measures transfer rates across specific lengths. ATTO uses RAW data, our transfer sizes ranged from 0.5 to 8192kb. ATTO is usually our definitive benchmark for solid state drives.

Pretty interesting results as the drive seems to take a second or so to “ramp up” but once it does it says pretty solid across the board. This is what OCZ was talking about when it comes to sustained performance. Once the drive hits its top speed it should stay there over time.

CrystalDiskMark is our next test and it has a sequential read / write test as well as a 512k and 4k random read / write test. Normally with SandForce-based drives we run this test with 0-fill because SandForce-based drives do not handle incompressible data that well, but with the Vertex 460 drive we do not have to worry about that since it is based off the Barefoot 3 controller.

Again we see results that match up very close to the specifications.
