  • Not a fan of this type of case.
  • lewislau
they should have put at least one slot where the dvd drive can come out without having to open the door.
  • lewislau
I love all the cooling they have provided, many fans. I dislike the door because you have to open it every time you want to insert a cd/dvd. Gets really annoying
  • black gloss is nice on any case until you take off the protective shipping plastic. unless you have a special cloth meant for cleaning gloss plastic like that it will scratch immediately. i do like the fact that the interior is painted, you don't see that on a lot of cases. this is the form factor i like to stay with. not to big that it's clunky, and not too small that it gets confused for a portable HDD. overall it has a sharp look to it, but most NZXT case's do.
  • lewislau
yea, definately hard to take care of these types of cases. It gets scratched easily like you said, but once it does, it'll start to look uglier and uglier. Plus it's a fingerprint magnet for sure, O.o
  • It only gets scratched if you scratch it. If you aren't carefully with your case, its your own damn fault for being clumsy. Thats how I see it.
  • lewislau
It's actually quite easy to scratch these cases, using a cloth, be it microfiber or not, to remove fingerprints tends to scratch it up quite a bit.
  • You aren't supposed to use alot of force which is where you problem prolly lies.
  • lewislau
i use a feather touch, it still does. I think the small fibers scratch it more.
  • Not really diggin' the front panel.
  • dlb
Yeah, I'm not really liking the front panel/door. I access my DVD drives fairly often and having a door to deal with would be a PITA. And leaving it open all the time is just asking for it to get broken. Other than that, nice case! :D

Is it USB 2.0 or 3.0?
New case must have USB 3.0 front/top Input otherwise waste of time.
  • lewislau
it's usb 2.0. Most cases / computers don't have usb 3.0 at the moment. I also actually can't think of any usb 3.0 devices out right now either, soon =).
  • Cases currently don't have USB 3.0 connectors because USB 3.0 motherboard compatibility is scarce.
  • lewislau
mobos are being release now with usb 3.0
  • lewislau
As we see more USB 3.0 products being released, mobos and cases will start to have them. This winter some usb 3.0 thumb drives are being released.
  • Quite true but it'll a while before it becomes mainstream.
  • lewislau
Agreed, but hope it does pick up soon, could always use that extra speed, to save me time.
  • We'll probably never see USB 3.0 devices reach the USB 3.0 spec's theoretical speeds.
  • lewislau
We still haven't reached the usb 2.0 theoretical speeds.
  • That's why it theoretical ;)
  • lewislau
Well, to be fair, none of my USB 2.0 drives ever reached their claimed speeds either, but any boost is always good.
  • My fastest USB drive maxes out at around 30MB/s
  • lewislau
Which is only half of the theoretical 480Mb/s or 60MB/s
  • plex
optical drives are dying as a storage medium. flash/ssd is whats up. get with the program. use microfiber cloth for a scratch free front panel and a small plier to fasten the standoffs.
  • The PC and console gaming market would beg to differ.
  • plex
optical disks are practical for distributing the data not storing it. cheap yes, reliable no.
  • lewislau
Yea, flash / ssd is def more reliable, don't have to worry about it getting scratched and not being able to read it.
  • The same can be said about platter HDDs.
  • lewislau
but that's from the internals wearing it out, a dvd can be scratched much more easily, since the surface is exposed
  • How are they not reliable?
  • lewislau
    they can get scratched?
  • lewislau
For me, i notice microfiber cloths tend to scratch up my plastic / screens more.
  • Cotton towels work fine for me.
  • lewislau
    gotta try that one.
  • plex
you need to really be careful with the way you handle and store optical media and still inevitably get bad batches of discs and having discs go bad prematurely. DVD-RAM has been the most reliable for me as far as optical media goes but too expensive for what you get so i just gave up on these discs. i would rather take my chance with another dying storage medium , the hard drive. less effort to maintain and i make clones of the drives just in case one goes bad.how many discs do you need to buy to equal a 1 terabyte drive? in the end its a hassle to switch out discs all the time, compared to having the data on the drive ready to go.
  • lewislau
true, also finding a place to store / organize all your dvds is quite difficult too,
  • bob
i was just wondering if this case can fit an hd 5870
  • Yes it can
  • bob
relay because it said to support 10.5" not 11" cards. i wanted this case because of its fan price and style but if i cant use a 5870 then i have to find another case as good as this one except the fact is that there are no other cases that are this good for the same price
  • I could check with NZXT, but im sure it does...maybe they have that listed because the case came out before the 5870....check this link: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?p=... they say it can fit in a NZXT gamma, which basically has the same internal design is the LEXA S, hope that helps
