NVIDIA’s Upcoming GeForce GTX 990M Will Have Incredible Mobile Performance

NVIDIA is preparing a new mobile GPU which will take form in the GeForce GTX 990M, at least according to the latest rumors. NVIDIA already has the GeForce GTX 980M, which is quite powerful, but not as powerful as a desktop GeForce GTX 980. The new GeForce GTX 990M is said to be faster than the desktop GTX 980.

This new GPU is said to be as fast as current GeForce GTX 980M SLI configurations. The GeForce GTX 980M is based off of the GM204 silicon and has 1536 CUDA cores. A laptop with a GeForce GTX 980M SLI configuration actually beats out a desktop GTX 980 by about 10%. If the new GeForce GTX 990M can beat both of those configurations that is some serious mobile performance! This could mean mobile 4K 60FPS gaming!

The two big problems NVIDIA has to worry about are power consumption and cooling. I’m sure they will work out those problems as time goes along.
