Noctua NH-L9i Low-Profile CPU Cooler Review

Noctua NH-L9i Overview
The NH-L9i has to be the smallest CPU cooler I’ve seen!  The official dimensions with the fan attached are 37mm x 95mm x 95mm (HxWxD).  This means you are not going to have any clearance issues, whether it is with your case or memory around the CPU socket.  On the top of the cooler you have Noctua’s own NF-A9x14 PWM fan.  This fan has a max rotational speed of 2500 RPM and max airflow of 57.5 m³/h.

The rest of the cooler is made up a heatsink that is comprised of aluminum fins with 2 copper heatpipes running through it.  Again this is very small, it will be interesting to see how well the cooling is on this cooler.  Noctua offers 2 version of this cooler, we received the Intel (i) version, but they also offer the NH-L9a for AMD processors.

There is an all copper base with nickel plating to give that cool chrome look to it.  The base is very smooth and there are no machining marks at all.  On the base you can see the mounting hardware.  It only takes 4 screws to secure this cooler on your motherboard.  The connector that comes off the fan is sleeved and uses a 4pin PWM connector.
