MSI’s New Carbon Gaming Motherboards at CES

While we did not see a whole lot of motherboard announcements at CES 2016 MSI was actually showing off two new “Carbon” motherboards. These boards were the X99A Godlike Gaming Carbon and the Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon. And if you can guess by the name these boards have carbon fiber design elements.

The X99A Godlike Gaming Carbon is based off of the X99A Godlike Gaming and MSI has added a carbon fiber design to the heatsinks and other parts of the board. One of the new features added to this board is the addition of metal shielding around the memory slots. Beyond that it is much like the X99A Godlike Gaming with features like the Killer DoubleShot-X3 Pro, Nahamic Audio Enhancer 2, MSI’s Mystic light & more. Expect to see this board hit retail in the end of February.

The Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon is based off the Z170A Gaming Pro and again add the carbon fiber elements. A new feature here is that they have added a new USB 3.1 Type-C port instead of the two USB 3.1 type-A ports on the previous model. With this board you get 2-way SLI and 3-way CrossFire support, a Turbo M.2 slot (32 Gb/s), SATA Express ports, Intel networking and more. Expect to see this board at the end of this month.
