MSI Z87A Gaming Motherboard Prototype at CeBIT

We have another look at an upcoming Z87 motherboard, this time it is from MSI. They were showing an early prototype of the Z87A Gaming Series motherboard. MSI has yet to really design the final color scheme, heatsinks, and PCB color, but most of the development of the board is done.

To start off this board is using a very impressive 16-phase VRM design. There are four DDR3 memory slots supporting up to 64GB of DDR3 memory, three PCIe 3.0 x16 slots and four PCIe 2.0 x1 slots. Storage and connectivity starts with eight SATA 6GB/s ports, eight USB 3.0 ports (six rear, 2 header), HD audio, gigabit Ethernet, dual-HDMI and DisplayPort. This design could be used for two different boards with a Gaming version having a few more features and a mainstream board with what you see here.
