MSI Shows Off Z170 Krait Gaming Motherboard

MSI has released a picture of their upcoming Z170 Krait Gaming Motherboard. This black and white themed motherboard is designed for PC builds with two graphics cards. The black and white design is not only on the heatsinks but also on the ports as well as even on the board itself. It gives the board a very unique look.

The board features an 8-phase VRM to condition the CPU and draws power from a combination of a 24pin ATX power connection and 8pin EPS connector. The CPU socket is wired to four DDR4 DIMM slots, supporting up to 64GB of dual-channel memory and two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (x8 / x8 when populated). There is a third PCI-Express 3.0 x16 (electrical x4) slot that is wired to the PCH, three PCI-Express 3.0 x1 slots, and a legacy PCI slot.

For storage you have six SATA 6GB/s ports, 2 of which can be used as a SATA Express port, and one M.2 slot. The board offers Killer E2205 gigabit Ethernet and MSI’s AudioBoost 3 onboard audio solution. Display outputs on the board include DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort. A USB 3.0 header can also be spotted on the board.

This board will be part of MSI’s first wave of Z170 boards that will launch alongside Intel’s Core i7-6700K and i5-6600K “Skylake” processors in early August.
