Usage & Testing

I used the M1-Pro for about a week with my laptop. I was nice to have something sturdy that would not flex when I was typing. The stand keeps your notebook at eye level so you are not always looking down, which is good. I would have liked to see some vertical adjustment on the legs though.

To test the M1-Pro we did our normal laptop testing with our Dell XPS M1210. We first set the all the fans inside the laptop to high speed so we would not get skewed results when testing the laptop on load. We did a plain idle test and ran Prime95 to put full load on the CPU. Here are the results…

Just like you I was surprised! On most laptop coolers we look at there is no change in idle temperature, but there was a 6 degree difference! During load we also saw a 4 degree difference. I was really surprised since the only cooling elements were the 2 large heatpipes and no fans to cool them off. Not bad at all!

Final Thoughts

After being very skeptical of how well the M1-Pro would perform I was very impressed! Without any fans it cools better than most laptop coolers we have looked at. The heatpipe method really works well and I think that the thick all aluminum design also did a good part in keeping our notebook nice and cool.

Besides the obvious cooling power of the M1-Pro its design is quite beautiful and the quality of the aluminum is something I haven’t seen on any other laptop cooler. If you have this on your desk it isn’t going anywhere! Also you do get 3 genuine Swarovski Crystal’s, which are unnecessary, but give the M1-Pro its own style.

The only thing I really didn’t like about this cooler is that I could not adjust the legs at all; having some vertical adjustment would have been nice. You can find the M1-Pro online for around $100, which is a lot to pay for a laptop cooler, but it actually works really well and is one of the better laptop coolers we have seen lately. Overall ThinkComputers gives the LUXA2 M1-Pro laptop cooler a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!

Pros:

- Great cooling power, without fans
- Quality made
- Beautiful design

Cons:

- No adjustment

The all aluminum makes it quite good at transferring heat, plus it look sweeet

Just though of another point, have you tested this against just raising up the laptop? I remember my laptop used to run a LOT cooler when i just propped it up with a book.

how is this a double post, i was looking through the articles and thought of another point. If anything your post is useless. I thought of something else they could have tested.

Considering the situation, double posting is borderline spam in desperation's sake.

And posting “Dude, stop double posting please” is not spam? My post, brings up a good point, that could have been tested as well.

wtf? how is testing the laptop by just raising it not a good point? clearly some laptops only need to be raised up, and it's then not the cooler that's actually doing the cooling but the act of raising it alone.

That's because the hot hot isn't trapped underneath the laptop.

“That's because the hot hot isn't trapped underneath the laptop.” HUH? Laptops vent their heat through the bottom / ocassionally the side. Mine vents from the bottom, thus the act of rasising it increases the airflow, and the heat doesn't build up as much.
