Lenovo ThinkPad X200 12.1-inch Tablet Notebook Review

General Usage
Starting off the screen on the X200 Tablet is a 12-1-inch WXGA, which means you will have a maximum resolution of 1280X800. That resolution is just fine for doing most tasks. The screen is very bright and the colors are very vibrant. The screen has an active digitizer, but is not touchscreen. That means that you can use the included pen on the screen but not your finger or anything else. The pen is accurate and works well. When you turn the screen into tablet mode it will automatically change orientation.

The X200 UltraBase is a docking station for the tablet. It adds an extra 4 USB ports, VGA out, HDMI out, audio ports, and most importantly it adds an optical drive. It is very easy to dock the X200 into the base; it is perfect for your office or workplace.

Just like all ThinkPad’s the X200 tablet comes with the ThinkVantage Productivity center. This is something that other notebook manufactures have tried, but only Lenovo does it right. I’m not going to go over everything in the ThinkVantage productivity center, but I want to touch on a few things. To get into the ThinkVantage productivity center just press the blue ThinkVantage button on the top of the keyboard.

The first thing you are probably going to want to do is setup the fingerprint reader. To do that go into the ThinkVantage menu and go under security and go to manage passwords. If you do not have a windows password setup it will ask you for one then you can enroll your fingerprints. You can enroll all fingers on both hands, which is nice. You will be asked to swipe your finger 3 times to enroll it.

Wireless devices are becoming more popular with that Lenovo makes it easy to manage your wireless devices. You can easily turn on and off WiFi, Bluetooth and EVDO. Also one thing that I have always liked about the ThinkVantage wireless network finder is that it lists wireless networks by signal strength.

With any notebook you are going to need to update it from time to time. The system update utility is great for that. Not only will it download new drivers and software updates for Lenovo specific devices it will also download Windows updates too. It is much better than using Windows update.
