While the big story of CES was Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Carbon they also took the time to announce their Miix 2 Hybrid Laptop / Tablet. The Miix 2 is the ideal solution for someone who frequently uses both a laptop and a tablet.
The Miix 2 is made up of two part, you have the actual tablet area and then the the keyboard / dock. Lenovo has made it extremely easy to detach the tablet from the dock by making use of magnets. You can literally just pick the tablet right up off the dock, it is that easy! The tablet can also be placed in the dock normally or backwards for more of a media mode.
The dock itself houses Lenovo’s AccuType keyboard, touchpad and a high quality JBL speaker. Also using the dock you get an extra USB port.
Lenovo will be offering the Miix 2 in 10.1-inch and 11.6-inch versions. Both versions will be loaded with Windows 8.1. The 10.1-inch version will feature a quad-core Intel Atom processor, while the 11.6-inch can have up to a 4th generation Intel Core i5 processor inside. Both units have a full HD 1920 x 1200 screen with 10-point touch ad a 178 degree viewing angle.
Both Miix 2 versions are available now with the 10.1-inch starting at $499, while the larger 11.1-inch starts at $799.
