IdeaPad S10-2 Overview
If you looked back at our review of the original S10 the S10-2 looks a little bit different. Starting with the top lid, it features a curved design with a pattern and the Lenovo logo. The S10-2 comes in black, grey, white, and pink. The S10-2 is around the same size as the original (10.2″ x 7.6″ x 0.7-1.8″), but is 0.44lbs. lighter and 4mm thinner. The small size makes the S10-2 the perfect size for a portable laptop that you can take with you anywhere.
Starting on the left side of the S10-2 you have an Ethernet port, exhaust vent, VGA out, a single USB port and your audio connections. On the opposite side you have the power connection, lock port, 2 more USB ports and the wifi switch.
The battery sticks out of the back of the S10-2 just a little bit, but actually lifts the netbook off the ground so it sits are a slight angle. This not only improves the viewing angle it helps with cooling too. On the back you have rubber feet on the back of the battery and the laptop itself. You can see the compartments that house the hard drive and memory. They can easily be removed for easy upgrades, we installed the OCZ 32GB solid state drive with ease into the unit for another review.
Opening the S10-2 up you have a 10.1-inch WSVGA glossy LED-backlit display with integrated camera at the top. Lenovo has improved the keyboard from the original S10 also. It is now an 89% full-sized keyboard that also has an enlarged right shift key. Also new to the S10-2 is the Lenovo QuickStart button, which we will talk about a bit later in the review. The touchpad has also been enlarged a bit, which is nice. Other improvements over the original S10-2 include optional 3G built-in, new Dolby sound enhancements, an extra USB port, and around 30% more battery life.
