Kingston MobileLite 9-in-1 Reader Review

Testing

To test the MobileLite we used the supplied SD card and used HD Tune to test the speed of the card. For comparison we also tested the card in our Brando 55-in-1 card reader.

Brando 55-in-1 Card Reader Test

cardreader

I was really surprised that the MobileLite performed almost 2x as slow as our card reader. It still is quite fast averaging 8.9MB/s, but I expected it to be faster.

Final Thoughts

The MobileLite 9-in-1 Reader is a great addition to anyone’s mobile arsenal. It is extremely easy to use and is about the size of a USB flash drive. Since it is designed like a USB flash drive you do not need to carry around an extra USB cable like with most card readers.

The only real downside about the MobileLite is the transfer speed. Our 2 year old 55-in-1 card reader was about 2x as fast. The MobileLite is still plenty fast for transferring files. You can find the MobileLite online for under $10 and the one with the 2GB SD card about $5 more. So the price is definitely right for this device.

Overall ThinkComputers gives the Kingston MobileLite 9-in-1 Reader an 8 out of 10 score and our Good Value Award.
