The IOCELL NetDisk SOLO NEWFAST enclosure is black and sleek with silver text and orange vents on the front. The vents resemble hook scoops. The top and bottom are vented, as well as the rear. There are two LEDs: one for power and one for drive access.
The ports are located on the rear. There is an Ethernet port, an eSATA port, a USB port, a power port, and a power switch. Notice that the USB port is mini-USB. The bottom has rubber feet and the screws which must be removed to access the interior.
The device is much larger than the hard drive that it houses. This is likely a design decision to allow room for ambient airflow; there are no fans inside this enclosure. I used the device heavily during our benchmarking and it didn’t seem to get very hot, though.
The hard drive sits in a drive cage, which must be removed in order to install the hard drive. Sliding the drive into place will not work here, folks. It’s a good thing there is a screwdriver included!
