It has been reported by VR-Zone that Intel is preparing their new line of SSD 530 Series solid state drives that will feature the latest M.2 interface with NGFF (Next Generation Form Factor). This line will succeed Intel’s SSD 520 and SSD 525 series. According to the leaked roadmap the series should have debuted back in June, but it has been postponed till next week.
These new solid state drives will feature the latest 20 nm MLC NAND flash, and the same LSI-SandForce SF-2281 controller that was on previous drives, but it is likely that it is the latest revision of the controller backed by better firmware.
The SSD 530 Series will be available in three form factors: 2.5-inch SATA (7 mm), NGFF M2 and mSATA. Capacities include 80 GB, 180 GB, 240 GB and 360 GB for M2 and mSATA form factors and 180 GB, 240 GB, 360 GB, and 480 GB for the 2.5-inch form factor.
At this point we do not know any information about the speed of the drives or the price. We will fill you in next week!
