Intel Could Launch The Core i7-7740K at E3 2017

Intel is expected to be fighting back against AMD’s Ryzen, and their first assault will be the Core i7-7740K and the “Basin Falls” platform. This processor and platform could possible launch at E3 2017 on June 12th. Intel is the main sponsor of the PC Gaming Show hosted by PC Gamer Magazine, which takes place in the backdrop of E3. Intel would announce the flagship Core i7-7740K and the more cost-effective Core i5-7640K as well as the X299 Express chipset. Intel could also announce retail availability of the chips and motherboard vendors would announce their first wave of socket LGA2066 motherboards.

Intel Chipset

The Core i7-7740K is a quad-core processor built on the 14 nm “Kaby Lake-X” silicon. It will have higher clock speeds than the current Core i7-7700K and a dual-channel integrated memory controller, but will lack integrated graphics. It could also feature a 28-lane PCI-Express gen 3.0 root-complex.
