Alien Vibes W601 Speaker System Review
Normally we see 2.1-channel speaker systems, but this is a 2.2-channel speaker system. This is because we have a dual subwoofer and two satellites. Both the satellites and the subwoofer have a nice black glossy finish with silver accents.
When you first pick up the dual subwoofer you will notice it is quite heavy and the construction feels very solid. It has two large 5.25-inch dual subwoofers. The subwoofer is actually the control unit as well, so all of your controls are located there. You can easily adjust the volume for overall sound, bass and treble. You can also select your input. On the left front of the subwoofer is a card reader and USB port. This will allow you to play music right off a SD/MMC card or USB device.
Moving around to the back of the subwoofer there are two large holes that allow the bass to come out of the back. There is also a large heatsink that helps cool down the on board 160W amplifier. As far as connections go you have RCA outputs for the left and right speakers and RCA inputs for your audio source. Remember there is a RCA to 3.5 mm audio cable included. There is also another 3.5 mm connection for an auxiliary input like a cell phone or MP3 player. I do like that there is a dedicated on / off switch this ensures that you can always cut off power when needed.
This system comes with two satellite speakers measuring 4″ x 4” x 10″. Both of the satellites are made with wooden construction, which not only makes for great sound, but also means these satellites are going to last. Each satellite features dual 3-inch driver as well as a 1-inch tweeter. On the back of each satellite is the RCA connection that will go into the subwoofer.
