Well guys be prepared to use mobile phones and laptops running Android and Chrome OS using AMD chips under the cover. Sources tell us that the chip makers are designing processors for Android and Chrome OS. AMD will still be dedicated to windows machine, but they do plan to spread out to mobile industry in the near future.
Intel has come up with its latest low voltage CPUs which includes three models under the atom N2xxxx series. These are N2805. N2810, N2910 manufactured on 20nm technology. These three models have been added today to Intel’s official pricelist. Their names indicate that they are atoms but they are enlisted in the ULV Celeron M section. The top SKU includes four cores with no hyper-threading technology which probably means that they are based on the new valley view M core.
We have been wondering when we would see the official launch of Intel’s 4th Generation Haswell desktop processors. Intel has released an image on their social networks that reveals the nanoseconds left (3,337,200,000,000,000) till the launch of Haswell. Looking at when the images was posted, the launch will happen the first week of June during Computex in Taipei.
Prices for Intel’s upcoming “Haswell” desktop processors has been leaked by VR-Zone! These processors are rumored to be launching in June around the same time as Computex. Looking at the prices they are very similar to the Ivy Bridge processors which were released in April of 2012. The flagship chip, which is the Core i7-4770K will have a MSRP of $327. It looks like we are finally getting some information on the CPUs that will follow the upcoming “Haswell” processors. It is actually pretty strange that we know any information at all as “Haswell” chips are not even out yet. The codename for the new processors will be “Broadwell” and they will be released in the second quarter of 2014. These processors will rely on 9-series based Z97 and H97 chipsets.
A source close to Intel has revealed that the company has started shipping their upcoming “Haswell” processors to OEM’s (companies that sell pre-built systems). It looks like Haswell keeps on getting closer and closer and these shipments could be the first PCs created using the new chip. Intel is expected to make a statement about the launch of Haswell at the upcoming IDF Beijing conference next week.
We are still firm believers that Intel’s 4th Generation “Haswell” processors will launch in 3 months or so, but that has not stopped some Dutch online retailers from listing the Core i7-4770K, which is of course the flagship of the processor family. Both MAXICT.nl and takeITnow.nl have the processor listed for pre-order. MAXICT has it listed at €331.13 (incl. VAT) and takeITnow.nl €352.00 (incl. VAT). That’s $427.29 and $454.43 in US currency.
The upcoming flagship consumer processor based on Intel’s Haswell architecture will be the Core i7-4770K. It looks like Tom’s Hardware has one one hand and has already run it through quite a few different benchmarks and tests. They are comparing it directly to the Core i7-3770K “Ivy Bridge” processor and the Core i7-2700K “Sandy Bridge” processor. Read on to see some of the benchmarks.
Intel’s next big launch is their 4th generation Haswell processors. We actually got a demo of the built-in graphics on the chip at CES, but that was it. No firm release date, we were just told, “later in the year”. Intel Corporation’s chief product officer today described how its low-power processors, starting with the company’s 4th generation Intel® Core™ processor family available next year, will set a new standard for mobile computing experiences and innovative Ultrabook™, convertible and tablet designs.
Speaking at the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco, David (Dadi) Perlmutter said Intel reduced the platform idle power of its 4th generation Intel Core processor family based on the next-generation “Haswell” microarchitecture by more than 20 times over the 2nd generation while delivering outstanding performance and responsiveness. He also said Intel will add a new line of even lower-power processors based on the same microarchitecture to its roadmap starting in 2013.
