I Guess There Is No GTX 980 Ti to GTX 1080 Ti Step-up Program

Back in September we had confirmation that the GTX 1080 Ti was coming. This was in a LinkedIn job posting, in the same posting it talked about existing users of the GeForce GTX 980 Ti would have a priority in a pre-order queue, or a “Step Up Offer.” The Step Up Offer would mean that GTX 980 Ti users would be able to trade in their cards for the GTX 1080 Ti at a significantly lower price than buying it new.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

From the looks of it there is no such offer. Of course this rumor was flying around when we expected the price of the GTX 1080 Ti to be $999. Instead NVIDIA launched the card at $699 and dropped the price of the GTX 1080 to $499. It seems as if NVIDIA is preparing for Radoen RX VEGA. We wonder if AMD plans to price it aggressively like they did with Ryzen.
