Hornettek Vader Aluminum iPhone 4 Case Review

Usage
Once you have your phone installed inside of the case you can see that all of the openings fit perfectly.  The phone really does look good inside of the case.  The first things I noticed after I installed the phone in the case was that the power button was completely unusable.  When I pressed down on it nothing happened.  Luckily you can remove the power button, but you have to take the case off to do so.

The case itself provides very good protection for your iPhone especially on the sides and corners.  The corners actually stick out a bit so if you happen to drop your phone it is more likely to hit a corner than anything else.  The bottom is open for you to connect your sync cable and even connect your phone to an iPhone speaker system, although many iPhone speaker systems make it so you have to take the case off your phone.

Final Thoughts
So what can we say about the Vader iPhone 4 case from Hornettek?  I think that they had a great idea going with the aluminum alloy design and really vibrant colors, but the execution was not that great.  First the entire back of the case is open, so this means your phone is going to get scratched if you drop it and it lands on the back, also if you have it in your pocket then it could easily be scratched by change or other items in your pocket.  Furthermore the phone seemed to just sit inside the case, not actually be enclosed in the case.

Two other major issues I had was that I had to have an hex screwdriver on hand each time I wanted to take the case off.  I frequenlty take cases off my iPhone to plug it in to speaker systems and the fact that it is going to take a a minute or so to take the case off is annoying.  Not to mention the hex bolts are extremely small and easy to lose.  The machined power button looked awesome, but when we installed our phone it was unable to activate the power button to ultimately we removed it so we could use the power button on the phone.

I really cannot recommend this case, I can only say if you are looking for something a little bit different you might want to check this case out.  This case sells for a whopping $80 at my favorite online retailer.  Overall ThinkComputers gives the Hornettek Vader Aluminum iPhone 4 Case a 5 out of 10 score.
