Hands On Lenovo’s 2017 ThinkPad X1 Carbon

The prize jewel of Lenovo’s ThinkPad line is of course their ThinkPad X1 Carbon. For 2017 they are of course going to be refreshing the X1 Carbon, but they are making some changes. Before we get into those lets talk about whats inside. You have the latest Kaby Lake processors, either a 14-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) or WQHD (2560 x 1440) IPS display, 16GB of memory, and up to a 1TB PCIe SSD.

Lenovo has also made major improvements making the X1 Carbon smaller and lighter than last years version. The 2017 version weights in at 2.49 lbs and is only 15.9 mm thin! On top of that they have updated the display with thin bezels, which we are huge fans of. With the thinner bezels Lenovo actually saves space, but you get the same screen real estate. You can see the difference between the last years model and the 2017 model in the photo below.

Lenovo also adds dual USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 to this version as well. The 2017 ThinkPad X1 Carbon will start at $1349 and be available in February.
