Griffin TuneFlex AUX with SmartClick for iPhone Review

Installation & Usage

Getting the TuneFlex AUX setup is pretty simple really. We installed it in a new Ford Focus that has the auxiliary input. So first we plugged the TuneFlex AUX into the cigarette lighter port and positioned it where we wanted it. Next we took the audio cable and connected it to the side of the TuneFlex and then into the auxiliary input in the car.

Installing the SmartClick remote to the steering wheel is very easy. It uses a Velcro strap that goes right around the steering wheel. You can install it on either the inside or outside of the steering wheel.

Finally slide your iPhone down into the holder and it will connect and start charging. Once we had the iPhone installed I went ahead and tested the SmartClick remote and all of the controls worked perfectly. The head of the TuneFlex cam actually be rotated for watching movies and other media in landscape mode. Taking my iPhone out of the holder has a bit hard and the 12v connector sometimes would get pushed out so the iPhone would not charge anymore.

Final Thoughts

If you enjoy listening to music from your iPod or iPhone and want clean interference-free playback of the music the Griffin TuneFlex AUX with SmartClick is perfect for you if you do have that auxiliary connection on your car stereo. The SmartClick remote not only makes it easy to switch songs, but also provides a great deal of safety too as you do not have to look and handle your iPhone to switch songs. Even with my iPod in the car I had some close calls trying to change songs before I had the SmartClick remote. I also like that Griffin includes holders for pretty much any iPod and iPhone. That way you can switch out devices if you like.

The only real issue I had with the TuneFlex was that the 12v connection would sometimes fall out when I was adjusting the arm; this was not a big issue though.

The TuneFlex AUX with SmartClick sells for $69.99, which is a great price for something that will play music in your car as well as charge your device. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Griffin TuneFlex AUX with SmartClick a 9 out of 10 score.
