Griffin Clarifi iPhone Case Review

Clarifi Overview & Installation

The Clarifi looks like your typical iPhone case. It is made of polycarbonate, which will provide adequate protection for your iPhone. As of right now the Clarifi only comes in black, we are not sure if Griffin will be releasing it in any other colors. When you flip the Clarifi over you can see that the back has a glossy finish which can actually act like a mirror. Also towards the bottom it has more of a rubberized finish that will make it easier to carry.

The reason they call this case the Clarifi is because of the lens that is on the case. This small lens is much like a macro lens that will focus close for incredible detail. The lens is not a fixed lens it slides back and forth so if you are not taking a close up you do not need to use the lens. Closer to the bottom of the case you will see the Griffin logo.

If you look at the lens from the inside of the case you can see how it works. One thing I did notice was that then lens would not stay in place, so if I moved the iPhone the lens would slide out of place.

To get your iPhone in the case is very simple. The bottom of the case comes off so you can slide your iPhone into the top of the case then go ahead and put the bottom right back on the case. Installation takes less than 30 seconds and is very easy.

  1. Well, if the lens doesn't lock in place what's the point of the lens? And you're assessment of the lens confused me,

“The lens isn’t a simple junk lens either, it actually does the job it is made to do and very well. I would have liked to see the lens actually stay in place though, I found myself having to hold it in place so it wouldn’t move when I was using it.”

So, it's not a piece of junk but it doesn't stay in place. It sounds like a piece of junk to me. You don't even mention if it's a glass lens or a plastic one which could (and will) get scratched over time.

  2. The lens is used to magnify things that are very close like business cards, we included images taken with and without the lens in the review. My thing with the lens is that it does not lock in place, which I did not like.
