Overclocking on the Z87 platform is rather easy as you are overclocking the CPU indepently from the memory. Gigabyte offers a few different ways to overclock on the Z87X-UD4H. First the easiest way is through the EasyTune. You can either select a predetermined overclock or you can go into the advanced settings and tune the system yourself.
There is also an instant overclocking feature built right into the BIOS. It is under the “CPU Upgrade” option. Again all of these values are based off the processor that you have installed.
Of course when we do our overclocking we like to do it in the BIOS manually. With this board I was able to get it to boot all the way up to 4.8 GHz, but the system was not stable. I settled on a 4.6 GHz overclock. On our Core i7-4770K that is a 1.1 GHz overclock.
