It looks like PCWorld has unboxed and gone over many of the different features of the Gigabyte Z87X-OC Haswell motherboard. The Z87X-OC is Gigabyte’s top of the line motherboard in their Haswell designed specifically for overclockers and enthusiasts. Read on to see all of the details and photos of this awesome motherboard.
The Z87X-OC has the same orange and black color scheme we have seen on other Gigabyte overclocking motherboards, although it does have a few silver accents on the heatsinks. This motherboard makes use of the Ultra Durable 5 feature set which includes an all digital IR digital power design with IR digital PWMs equipped with IR Powerstage ICs. The PCB has a 2 layer copper design with double black solid capicitors. You have an 8 phase solid VRM which uses DRMOS, IR MOSFETs which will provide stable power delivery.
There are many overclocking buttons on the board for manual overclocking in real time. These buttons include BCLK, Turbo Gear, and of course power and reset buttons. There are also voltage measurement points, dual BIOS switch, debug LED, LN2 switch and dip switches for the PCIe slots.
Expansion includes 4 PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, a single PCI Express x1 slot and two PCI slots. There are six SATA 6GB/s ports, six USB 3.0 ports, and two USB 2.0 ports. CPU power is provided through an 8 + 4 pin connector so you have extra power for overclocking.
This motherboard will also feature Gigabyte’s High Resolution UEFI BIOS that we already talked about. Expect to see this board on the launch of Haswell which will be June 3rd.
