Gigabyte Z77X-UD4H Motherboard Review

Final Thoughts
Gigabyte has put together a great all around motherboard that any user would enjoy, especially at the price of $164.99.  Gigabyte has done a really good job at making this board look just as attractive as the price tag.  The matte black PCB looks great and the accents on the heatsinks add to the overall look.  You can put this motherboard in any case and it is going to look great.

As far as performance goes I was extremely impressed.  Upon initial setup of our system we did not encounter a single issue working with the board.  I honestly did not expect to get past 4.5GHz when it came to overclocking, but this board really did surprise me!  Achieving a 5.0GHz overclock on our Intel i7-3770K with no voltage changes is extremely impressive!  That is a 43% or 1.5GHz overclock from the stock 3.5GHz speed of the i7-3770K.  This really shows just how stable the board is.

You are getting pretty much everything you would want from a Z77 motherboard.  You have eight SATA ports, SLI and CrossFire support, lots of USB 3.0 ports, power and reset buttons on the motherboard, gigabit Ethernet, and quite a few different audio and video options.  The UEFI BIOS is a plus as well.  It makes making changes to your system extremely easy, even for a beginner.

The included software while functional is a bit all over the place.  I really think that Gigabyte needs to create a single unified software application for their motherboards.  No one wants to install a ton of different little programs that all do different tasks.  No to mention they all look and feel different so you have to learn each one.  EasyTune6 seems so dated if you look at utilities from other motherboard manufacturers.

The board does build upon the Z77X-UD4H by giving you more SATA ports, but you are going to miss out on some of the other features of higher-end Gigabyte board like Thunderbolt, dual Gigabit Ethernet and WiFi.  If you do not need those features there is no reason to not choose the Z77X-UD4H.  Again it is only $164.99 and at that price you are getting great board!

Overall ThinkComputers gives the Gigabyte Z77X-UD4H Intel Z77 Motherboard a 9 out of 10 score.
