GeChic On-Lap 1301 Portable Monitor Review

On-Lap 1301 Overview
Getting the display out of the packaging the first thing that I noticed was how small and thin it was.  It is only 13.8mm thin and weighs just under 2lbs!  The display is black and has a glossy finish on it, which should match most laptop displays out there.  This is a 13.3-inch TFT LCD screen with a max resolution of 1366 x 768.

On the right side of the display are 4 indicators, which I thought might be touch-sensitive buttons, but they are actually just icons that tell you that the actual buttons are on the back of the display.

There is a small compartment on the bottom of the display.  You remove a small plastic piece to access it.  When you open it up you will find your USB power connector and the VGA and DVI inputs.  Both the VGA and DVI connectors are included, they use proprietary mini connectors on the ends to of course save space.

The display itself is attached to a heavy-duty frame that allows you to attach the display to the back of your laptops screen or on a desk, you will see this on the next page.  This frame enables the display to swivel out or up.  The display can be pulled out to swivel by a small tab on the right side of the display.

  1. GeChic 1301 is one of their older monitors, as this post is 2 years old. They have upgraded the monitor to 1302, and even a better 1080p display, GeChic 1303H. I’ve used GeChic 1303H, I didn’t get mine from Amazon though, I purchased directly from their website. I’ve only used it for a week with my Macbook Pro so I can’t comment too much as of yet. It comes with an HDMI cable so you can hook it up to your mac mini as well. I’ve listed some of the highlights of the monitor below:

    – Great picture quality/resolution; I’ve only tried web browsing and PS4 games so far but the monitor displays an an awesome 1080p picture with a clean refresh rate.
    – Great colour range as well. You can make the picture very vibrant if needed.

For those that need a 1080p 13.3″ portable HDMI display, you can find GeChic 1303H on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1PFJR9U
