Ripjaws Overview
The G.Skill Ripjaws memory looks like a lot of other performance desktop memory out there. There are 2 separate DIMMs since this is a dual channel kit. Each DIMM is of course 4GB, making this an 8GB kit. The heatspreaders that G.Skill uses for their Ripjaws memory is red. On the front there is a G.Skill logo and a large Ripjaws logo.
Flipping the memory over like most memory you have small stickers that tell you a little bit about the memory. The stickers on this memory tells us the part number which is F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL, that it is DDR3-1600 or PC3-12800 memory running a 9-9-9-24 at 1.5v and that it is a 4GBx2 kit.
So why is this memory called Ripjaws? Let’s take a look at the heatspreaders. It you notice they sort of look like teeth, with points coming out of the top. On each end is a larger point making the entire heatspreader look like a jaw. This not only looks cool, but also should help with cooling quite a bit.
So are you ready to get this kit in our test system?
