Faster Hawaii-based AMD Graphics Card Coming

It does not look like both AMD and NVIDIA will be releasing any new cards for the rest of the year. For those expecting to see the GeForce GTX 960 this month, it won’t be coming. It seems NVIDIA really does not even have to release it with the popularity of their GTX 980 / 970 cards. Back to AMD, they are prepping a faster Hawaii variant that should release a few months from now.

AMD Radeon R9 290X

We expect this card to fall into AMD’s Radeon R9 300 series, otherwise it really wouldn’t make any sense. This could be the Radeon R9 380X. We do know for sure that this card will be based off the Hawaii silicon and will be faster than the Radeon R9 290X.

Expect to see quite a lot of cards launching in the first quarter of 2015. This will include the R9 390X and R9 380X from AMD and the GTX 960 and Titan II from NVIDIA. We will keep you up to date as more information comes in.
