Elgato Game Capture HD60 Review

Final Thoughts
I’ve always wanted to try one of these devices out. Being a mainly PC gamer we typically don’t need a device like this, but with devices like the Steam Machine’s streaming and recording gameplay can become a little harder. So don’t think this device is only for console gamers. Also keep in mind any type of streaming or gameplay recording on your PC will use resources, so you could also use this device on a separate PC to take the load off your gaming PC. For those who use the Open Broadcaster Software (OBS), no need to worry either as you can set the Game Capture HD60 as a source. This way you can see have your overlays, webcam sources, etc.

One thing I really like about the Game Capture HD60 is that it is a very easy to use device. Connecting your devices is pretty self-explanatory and the software is very user friendly. The software is actually extremely powerful too. It allows you to not only record, but stream to your favorite streaming services. You can create scenes with watermarks and other sources on your video. One of the best features is the ability to do live commentary from a microphone you have connected to the PC you are recording on. This is great for devices that might not have microphones and it saves you time editing separate audio in post.

Recording your gameplay in HD resolution and at 60 frames per second is pretty awesome! Many game capture devices only record at 720p resolution or at 1080p at 30 frames per second. Remember this device should work with any device that has HDMI out, not just consoles.

If you are serious about streaming or recording your gameplay then this is a device you need to have! Right now it is selling at my favorite online retailer for $152. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Elgato Game Capture HD60 a 10 out of 10 score!
