EA Released Battlefront Half-Finished To Capitalize on Episode VII Hype

Star Wars: The Force Awakens had so much hype behind it and after you watched it you wanted to continue that experience in a game. Of course EA knew you were going to want to do this, that is why they shipped Star Wars Battlefront half-finished without a campaign.

“We made this choice due to time and being able to launch the game side-by-side with the movie that came out to get the strongest possible impact,” EA Studios’ head Patrick Soderlund said at the company’s Investor’s Day meeting. So it seemed all EA cared about was the money. They decided to ship a half-finished game to capitalize on the huge sales generated by the Star Wars Frenzy and rake in a ton of money. The trade off was to take a hit in credibility, but it seems they don’t really care about that.

EA even admitted that Battlefront, “may not have the depth gamers wanted”. At least we know the reason why now. Funny that when the game launched EA said that “most gamers won’t play a singleplayer campaign anyway” to cover up the real reason why the game was released unfinished.

Oh well, EA has a chance to make up for it with Battlefront 2, which is expected to come out in 2017.
