Final Thoughts
We really have not seen a company like CRYORIG burst on to the scene like they have. Having looked at their R1 Ultimate and being thoroughly impressed and now with the H5 Universal being a great cooler as well I really have to say CRYORIG is a company you need to think about if you are looking for an air cooler for your system.
To start off with looks CRYORIG has really done a great job making the H5 Universal look great. The heatsink looks good and they have topped it with a white piece that will show out if you have a window on your case. Also the choice of color on the fan really sets the whole thing off. CRYORIG’s coolers are definitely some of the best looking air coolers that you can get!
Of course looks are not everything and you want a cooler that is going to perform well. The H5 Universal performs great, in the top half of the coolers that we have reviewed lately. That is quite impressive given its size and very thin fan. Talking about the fan it is very quiet and you can barely hear it at all. This is a cooler I would definitely recommend if you are planning on running an overclocked system 24/7. Also you have the ability to add another fan to get even more performance.
When it comes to installation of this cooler it could not be easier. It took more no longer than 5 minutes to get it fully installed and I did not have to do any steps over because it did not go right the first time. You do not have to remove the fan or anything from the cooler to get it installed, which is nice, especially for first time builders. I also really appreciated that CRYORIG supplied their own screwdriver for installation because many screwdrivers would not fit down the hole in the heatsink.
This cooler follows the trend of 100% RAM compatibility, which is something we have seen a lot lately. This cooler does seem a lot larger than many of the others that offer this though. It is great that CRYORIG not only focuses on compatibility, but also performance.
So far in 2015 this has to be my favorite air cooler for all things considered, size, ease of installation, performance, compatibility and noise. Right now you can pick up the cooler at my favorite online retailer for $43.99.
