Ballistix Elite Overview
We received the 16GB quad channel kit of the Ballistix Elite memory so we have four separate 4GB modules. Each module will be running at DDR3-1600 with timings of 8-8-8-24 at 1.5v. I do like the lower voltage on these modules, this means we should be able to bump it up to get a nice overclock!
The Elite modules sure are sexy! The have an all black heatspreader with the Ballistix Elite logo in the center. To match the black heatspreaders Crucial has a black PCB, which makes for a great overall look.
The heatspreaders on this kit is very large, some of the largest we’ve seen in a while. You are really going to want to make sure that these modules will fit if you are using an aftermarket CPU cooler. The heatspreaders come up into fins at the top of the module, this will really help keep each module nice and cool. These kits also have integrated thermal sensors that can be monitored with Crucial’s MOD utility. The modules actually have their operating speed, timings and voltage printed right on the heatspreader. The opposite side of the heatspreader is all plain.
