Corsair Obsidian Series 800D Case Review

It Looks Great!
Wow when you close this system up and take a look at it, it just looks great! It looks very professional, but at the same time it is going to catch someone’s attention. You look in through the side panel and can see your components inside and barely any cables at all!

The front power button lights up just enough. The only light coming from the inside of our case is a small LED on the motherboard and the LED’s coming from our power supply. If we have a LED fan on the CPU cooler and some cold cathodes in this case it would really light it up!

Final Thoughts
WOW what a case! Think about this, this is Corsair’s first case. Not only that they are a memory company not a case company! They have really taken their time designing this case and it is one of the best cases that I’ve seen in a while! They did not copy some other company and they did not use an OEM design that looks like every other case out there! This really shows that Corsair takes pride in their products.

The case design is just great. Since it is a full tower you have tons of room inside to work with, as well as room for 6 hard drives and 5 5.25-inch devices. The 4 hot-swappable bays are something very new to PC cases and you should see a lot of cases coming out in the future with hot-swappable bays. I really like that Corsair did include the SATA power adapter and the data cables. This not only made cable management better, but also made it so all of your SATA cables were the same color.

Installation of everything was a breeze. I didn’t have a single issue with installation at all. Everything fit perfectly, the tool-less optical drive system worked great, and everything went in easily. I really like that you use the same screws for the hard drives, power supply, and motherboard. This just makes things easier. All of the cable routing holes are great and make cable management easily. There are a total of 15 routing holes, all but 2 have rubber grommets on them as well. The rubber grommets protect your cables as well as making things looks nice inside of the case. Because of all these holes you can achieve great cable management with minimal effort at all.

Even with everything installed there was a ton of room inside the case. Corsair has designed this case for water-cooling setups and we actually saw a bunch of companies at CES totally deck this case out with crazy water-cooling systems!

If you are looking for a top of the line case this is it! The Obsidian Series 800D case is easily up there with the high end Lian Li cases and has a lot of up to date features that they don’t have. You are getting a quality case so it is going to cost you, right now you can pick up the 800D online for about $280. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Corsair Obsidian Series 800D Case a 10 out of 10 score and our Editor’s Choice Award!
