When it comes down to it Corsair has once again impressed it. The AX860i is the best and most stable power supply in its class and one of the most stable I have seen in years. I can’t even remember the last power supply that I have tested that both the 12V and 5V rails were completely solid. This really shows you that digital power regulation is the way to go. On top of voltage regulation this power supply is 80PLUS Platinum which means it is 89% efficient at 100% load.
Corsair has gone with a subtle, yet solid design with the AX860i. The black and red looks great and I’m sure you can match that with some very popular motherboards and memory modules out there. One of my favorite features of the AX860i is that it is fully modular. So when you get it there are no cables connected to it at all. This means when installing you only use the cables you need, which leads to less cable mess and better airflow inside of your case.
Corsair has really done a great job equipping so many of their products with Corsair Link. This way you can easily make changes and monitor every piece of hardware inside of your system. Having the AX860i connected to a Corsair Link module we can see the units efficiency, power in and power out values, voltages, fan speed, temperature and we are able to enable multi-rail mode on the PCIe connectors. As I said earlier I have used many different system monitoring programs and Corsair Link is one of the best that I have seen.
Right now you can pick up the AX860i for $199 at my favorite online retailer. Corsair also offers an AX1200i 1200W unit and an AX760i 760W version. Also Corsair backs this power supply with a 7 year warranty. Do you have a piece of hardware in your current system that has been there for 7 years? Overall ThinkComputers gives the Corsair AX860i Power Supply a 10 out of 10 score and our Editor’s Choice Award!
