[ad#review986-top]Recently I reviewed the Asus Maximus II Gene, an upper-end mATX Intel P45 motherboard. Asus saw the need for a small footprint enthusiast/gamer motherboard to satisfy those guys that would rather have an mATX rig without sacrificing the features found on a full ATX Republic of Gamers board. For those desiring an i7, Asus also has released the Rampage II Gene, an mATX X58 ROG motherboard.
But now that you have that upper end mATX overclocker, you are still limited in your choice of a suitable CPU cooler. Only a handful of mATX cases will accept one of the current high performance heatpipe 120mm coolers, most of which are tower-styled. Even with a cube-styled mATX case, many will not accept a 120mm cooler.
And besides the hardcore enthusiast, there are other reasons for wanting a high performance cooler that will fit in a small case. For example, someone purchasing an i7 might want to recycle that hot Core 2 Duo or Quad into an HTPC rig. If you’re like me, you have never considered using a stock cooler, but that’s about all that will fit in most HTPC cases. CrazyPC was nice enough to send us over a great mATX CPU cooler.
CoolJag has heard your outcry for some decent mATX cooling, and released the Falcon II, a low profile copper/aluminum cooler with a 120mm fan. Marketed towards the HTPC crowd, it will work great for a high-end mATX rig. CoolJag has been been around for over two decades, and have been building PC cooling solutions since 2001, so they definitely know what they are doing. CoolJag is a leader in “skiving”, a heatsink design technology utilized in this cooler. Find out more about the Falcon II in the following pages!
