Cooler Master N600 Case Review

Interior
N600 Full Case view front window

The interior of the Cooler Master n600 case is more than one would come to expect from a common System Builder case. It has almost everything an Enthusiast would need for a Full ATX Case at any price. The rear PCI Slots are easy to get to but tightened down hard for shipping so we can’t call this tool less and its really not. In order install a custom water pump or a Very long video card you will have to use a Phillips head #04 Screw driver to take remove the SSD Rack. The inside of the motherboard tray is build of strong steel and has rubberized wire grommets as well as tie downs in the right place for wire management.

The Standoff installation tool that comes with the case is also very nice and makes installing the right standoffs in the Case a breeze. Its just a small hex side on one side and a Phillips head cross cut to allow you to merely insert the standoff into the tool and then line it up with the hole and use your Phillips head screwdriver to turn the standoff in and tighten with little to no irritation. This is a good indicator of a company that cares for their buyer’s when they add a tool for the standoffs. Its nice to have and makes building inside the case easier and more professional.

The motherboard tray has a Large CPU access hole in the back and this is nice but they needed to add another Centimeter to the bottom to allow for all motherboard CPU placements. While this could be an issue there is still ample space to change cooling solutuions on the Fly without total tear down of the Motherboard and other parts. This is a big plus for Enthusiasts and gamers alike.

There are lots of Tie downs for the back wire management solutions that the builder needs but the hole for the CPU 8 Pin connector needs to be bigger. It was pretty difficult to get the 8 pin connector through the hole but it did get done. But it took a few choice words and a minute of time to get it in through the back to the inside of the case.

The Bottom part is made for the Power Supply and Wires whether you use modular or standard Power Supply wiring there is a lot of room for all types in the Cooler Master. We installed a large 1000 Watt semi modular unit inside the our review case for the build portion of this review and it fit like a comfortable glove with plenty of room for wires to go out to the back through the rubber grommet at the bottom.

There are two interior wire access points that are also rubber covered for re entering into the case as the builder plugs in the required wires for the build. The look is clean and professional.

The 120 X 120 Rear exhaust Fan has a through and through Molex connector on it as well as a standard 3 pin fan connector for motherboard installations. The Fans use the Standard Voltage Step down for speed variations and are not PWM four pin type. But that is not a problem since PWM fans are more a luxury than a need. The Fan is the Typical R4 Cooler Master Standard fan and is extremely quiet even at top speeds. The Back fan is not LED lit but the fan is still very high quality as most Cooler Master fans are.

N600 Optical bay area

The rear view of the Optical Drive bay shows that the painting process even went as far as inside the Bays. This is common it expensive cases but not for usual builder type units. Also the Tool-less locking system worked flawlessly and lined up our optical drive precisely where the front lines up perfectly with the front case cover.

N600 SSD Drive View

The SSD RACK for lack of a better word is a great feature but if you have the money to fit 4 large SSDs into this rack you may have bought a higher grade case. That said, this is quite a nice area to totally remove. One can install an OS SSD in the back of the motherboard and have plenty of Mechanical drives left over at the bottom side. The best part about this SSD Rack is that you can inlarge it to allow for 4 more 3.5 inch hard drives if you need Mega Tera-Storage but remove the rack totally allows you to easily fit a 120 X 240 mm Radiator behind it and give more room for top exhaust fans for super cooling.

Or lets say you need a lot of room for a custom water loop or you have huge video cards in SLI or Crossfire this case can handle it and not even breath hard doing it. While we like the SSD rack the truth is the rack is better used by removing both of the Rack panels and use the space for other more important needs. like uber cooling is a nice out of the way area or a great place to mount a pump for a custom loop. You decide. This is a very moddable case.

The wires of the case enter back into the motherboard side through the wire access hole next to the SSD Rack mounts so this is also a great reason to remove the SSD Rack Mounting system and use the lower area. The Rack would be best used for adding an extra 4 Mechanical 3.5 inch drives but that is just the opinion of the Review and the great part about it all. You can do whatever you like to this area. The sky is the limit and we didn’t even get to talk about adding more fans to the front.

The bottom 3.5 inch Drive bay is also completely removable with four small Phillips head screws at the bottom and one at the back. People that like using

Since we have been talking radiator on the side if you remove the SSD Drive Rack you get a full 69.85 mm. of depth for radiator and Fans thickness even with the bottom drive bay still attached. There is a full 265 mm. of bottom to top clearance for this radiator configuration and this is one of the best reasons to buy this case. This is one unique water cooling solution that is worth looking into since the panel is never bothered. There is a filter on it as well and the mount for the Radiator is very stable and strong for low vibration service.

Plus since you are likely to be pulling air into the case its better for that heated air from the back side of the Radiator to be evacuated out the top quickly with a few fans at the top and a fan or two pulling into the front.

N600 DVD full back panel

The Back of the Cooler Master N600 is very tidy and very well engineered. The only thing we found lacking was the quality of the Rubber grommets on the wire access holes. While they are moderate Quality and not likely to cause you any problems at all they are not as nice as other units but those units are more expensive too so we can live with this.

There are plenty of Tie downs for Wire management and the case accessories does include enough for a standard installation but there is only 20 mm of space behind the motherboard to the panel for wire management space. Some of the higher quality and more expensive cases allow about 25.5 mm of space and the Cooler Master n600 is tight so if you are looking for the perfect power supply for this case would be the type with the flat black ribbon wire solutions are the best for this as a big roll of 24 pin wires can easily eat up 20 mm with just that one cable wrap.
