Currently the minimum cards that will run VR content are the Radeon R9 290 cards and the GeForce GTX 970. The market currently has 7.5 million deployed units with these types of cards, with the GeForce GTX 970 being the most popular graphics card on the market. In a recent interview AMD’s Roy Taylor confirmed that the Polaris architecture is aiming at the VR market.

Three of Intel’s upcoming Broadwell-E processor have been listen up for sale on eBay. This is of course before their official launch, which we expect will happen around Computex time. The processors that are listed for sale are the Core i7-6950X for $1750, the Core i7-6900K for $875 and the Core i7-6850K for $575.
Being a PC guy this is no surprised to me, but for some odd reason Mac users still think that a Mac can outperform a PC that costs the same. Well this test should put those thoughts to bed. The guys over at SLR Lounge compared Adobe Lightroom performance of a $4431 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display to a $4370 custom built PC. The results were that the iMac is anywhere from 26% to 114% slower than the PC!
The “Ellesmere” silicon will compete against NVIDIA’s GP104. It has been rumored that the R9 490(X) based off of this silicon will offer consumers rivaling the GeForce GTX 980 Ti, which means it will be faster than the Radeon R9 Fury X. Oh yeah, and it will have a $300-ish price point.
It looks like EKWB is ready for the Radeon Pro Duo launch as they have announced their Radeon Pro Duo waterblock. This is a full-coverage water block made specifically for AMD’s dual-GPU monster. EKWB teased the block in its clear-arcylic top with nickel-plasted copper based variant.
Performance numbers for the AMD Radeon Pro Duo have been leaked to the web by Expreview ahead of the launch of the card. If we look at the results compared to the $620 GeForce GTX 980 Ti we see that the $1499 dual-GPU card from AMD is about 32% faster at 1080p (with CPU saturation), and around 59.4% faster at 4K Ultra HD.
At PAX East Gigabyte was showing off three unreleased X99 motherboards. These new boards are set to launch along side Intel’s Broadwell-E HEDT processors. These new X99 boards include the X99-Designare EX, X99-Phoenix SLI G1 Gaming, and the X99 Ultra Gaming. He have the details on each board below!
Over the weekend at PAX East Logitech had something really cool and it definitely caught the attention of a lot of people! They used 160 of their G810 Illuminated keyboard to create a really cool retro game display. I think this is the first time we’ve really seen something like this! Over the weekend a couple of photos of NVIDIA’s upcoming GP104 Pascal GPU were leaked. There is a super close up version and a second photo showing the surrounding memory etc. Let’s start with the close up photo, looking at it compared to NVIDIA’s “performance” Maxwell chips it looks like GM104 will be smaller than both. Calculations put the size of the die at 317 mm2.
