Haswell Will Offer 50% More Battery Life in Laptops

I’m sure you have been hearing the reports about compatibility issues with Haswell desktop processors and certain power supplies. That is because Haswell processors have a new sleep state called C6 and C7. In these states the processor is nearly shut off, bringing down the power consumption. Intel’s laptop processors in the Haswell will have the same feature as well as better power effeciency. Intel has said that Haswell processsors offer 50% more battery life in laptops than did their “Ivy Bridge” predecessors did.

Hisense Bringing Low-Cost Android Tablets To Walmart

Today Chinese manufacturer Hisense has come up with its Sero 7 Series tablet which will be available from Walmart starting today. Hisense Sero 7 PRO features a 7-inch 1280 x 800 HD touch screen and is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 quad-core processor along with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. It is somehow a disappointment as NVIDIA has already revealed its Tegra 4 chipset but keeping in mind the low-cost of these Chinese tablets one must appreciate the internals they offer in their tablets in this low budget.

OCZ Launches the Vertex 450 Series Solid State Drives

OCZ has just launched the Vertex 450 SATA III solid state drive series. This drive will be replacing the Vertex 4 and will feature OCZ’s own Indilinx Barefoot 3 M10 controller. The drive boasts read and write speeds of 540 MB/s and 530 MB/s respectively and a 4K random write performance of up to 90,000 IOPS. The drive is also 7mm thin so it can fit in your Ultrabook.

Now with the announcement of Xbox One, AMD has confirmed through a Tweet that it is powered by a single-chip, semi-custom APU co-developed by AMD and Microsoft. This tweet reveals that Microsoft and AMD have worked closely for the APU powering Xbox One which features 8 cores, an embedded GPU and 8GB of RAM. It is rather strange that why Microsoft is so quite about the specs while Sony has openly announced the internals of their PS4.

HP has officially announced the all in one HP Envy Rove 20. First Sony released the Tap 20, Lenovo tagged along with its Horizon and now HP has come up with three new gadgets. It’s an all in one touch screen that you can actually grab and carry around anywhere from room to room. It’s a tablet PC with a 20 inch touch screen. An added advantage is its push button at the back which releases a hinge so you don’t have to open the stand with your hand. This spring-loaded frame folds flat in the frame behind. It weighs 11.86 pounds which can be considered portable but at the sometime it’s a half pound heavier than the Sony’s Tap 20. Screen resolution is 1080p which is extremely smooth allowing you to operate it as more of a tablet or a twenty first century board game machine.

Innodisk Releases Embedded SATA nanoSSD

Innodisk has announced the world’s first industrial embedded SATA nanoSSD. Since we know for a fact that that single chip SSDs run at a much more freely pace than their corresponding items. It measures (0.63×0.79) in size and takes just 1W of maximum power but still can read at a speed of 480MB/s and further and writes at 175MB/s. It is one of those SSDs that can supposedly pack desktop-class storage into any type of Smartphone and tablets. Still uncertain whether where and when will see this drive in a complete form.

NVIDIA Officially Announces the GeForce GTX 780 Graphics Card

Well the wait is over, NVIDIA has officially announced the GeForce GTX 780 graphics card. This card is the first addition to its GeForce 700 Series desktop lineup. This card is based on the same GK110 chip that was in the GTX Titan, but it has 2304 CUDA cores and 192 TMUs compared to the 2688 CUDA cores and 224 TMUs of the GTX Titan. The card uses 3GB of GDDR5 memory over a 384-bit bus.
