It looks like we get to see another Z87 motherboard! Today we have BioStar’s upcoming Hi-Fi- Z87X 3D motherboard which has been pictured and detailed by Playwares. Besides being made for Intel’s upcoming 4th generation Haswell processors the Hi-Fi- Z87X 3D motherboard features an integrated independent audio power design with a built-in amplifier.
The board makes use of a 12 phase VRM which is cooled by two large black heatsinks with a blue accent on the top. The CPU gets power from a single 8 pin connector. This motherboard makes use of top of the line components for the best stability possible for users.
For expansion slots you have three PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots and three PCI Express 3.0 x1 slots. This board is however limited to AMD’s CrossFireX functionality only, SLI is not supported. There are six SATA 6GB/s ports, which are on a right angle so they are not in the way of longer video cards. The internal USB 3.0 header is located right above the SATA ports and is also at a right angle.
This board is designed for audiophiles and the Hi-Fi power design is built directly on the board. This powers the Hi-Fi 3D Zone which includes a stainless steel shield cover to protect it from EMI and other unwanted interfaces. This all-in-one audio solution would save you money if you were considering buying an add-on sound card.
Rear I/O includes several USB 3.0 ports, DVI, VGA, HDMI (4K / 2K support) Gigabit Ethernet and 7.1 channel audio.
Compared to ASUS’s Z87 Line, ASRock’s Z87 line, MSI’s MPower MAX and Gigabyte’s Z87X-OC this board does not seem as appealing, although it you are an audiophile or looking to save money this board could be an option.
