Belkin’s WeMo LED Bulb Starter Set Lights Up Your Home

Heading into CES 2014, I wanted to see new home automation products. It didn’t take long before I stumbled upon Belkin’s brand new WeMo LED Bulb Starter Set. The WeMo LED Bulb Starter Set includes two bulbs and a wireless bridge. Let’s see what Belkin’s implementation will bring to the market early this year.

Belkin WeMo LED Bulb Starter Set

The WeMo LED Bulb Starter Set can support up to 50 bulbs on one wireless bridge, each LED bulb outputs 3,000 lumens (equivalent of a 60W incandescent light bulb), and you can control the system with the WeMo app on an assortment of devices. Belkin’s wireless bridge connects over WiFi, so an ethernet cable is not required. All you have to do is plug it into a wall outlet, connect to the bridge with the WeMo app, and enter the info for your wireless network. The included bulbs offer white as their only color, but they are dimmable. After those simple points, Belkin adds in the normal WeMo integration everyone has come to expect.

For instance, the wireless bridge can be programmed to turn on the associated LED bulbs at a scheduled time, or you can group the LED bulbs into sets. These sets allow you to label bulbs 1, 2, and 3 as Kitchen (Set 1), and bulbs 4, 5, 6 as Living Room (Above TV). Grouping bulbs into sets allow you to easily control multiple bulbs at the same time.

Belkin’s WeMo LED Bulb Starter Set will be available March 2014 for $129.99, with additional bulbs for $39.99.
