be quiet! Shadow Rock 2 CPU Cooler Review

Installation
Installation of the Shadow Rock 2 is a little bit tricky, but luckily you are probably only going to have to do this once. Given the installation method I would say that its best to take your motherboard out of the case for this installation. You will see why in just a second. We will be doing our installation on Intel’s LGA socket 2011. So the first thing you are going to want to do is install the four screws on the LGA 2011 mounting bracket.

Next take the Shadow Rock 2 cooler, flip it over and install the mounting brackets as you see in the photo below.

Apply the included thermal paste and place the cooler on top on your CPU while carefully making sure that the mounting brackets line up with the the screws you have previously installed. To completely secure the cooler you will need to take the supplied metal nuts and install them on the open part of the screw that you placed the bracket on. Be quiet! does include a small wrench to complete the process, but it is pretty tight once everything is installed.

If you have memory pre-installed you may need to remove it for easier installation. Also if you have large heatsinks on your motherboard around the CPU socket installation will be a little harder as it is hard to maneuver the small wrench in a confined space. Once completely installed just connect the fan to the header on your motherboard. I would like to mention that there is not much clearance between the fan and our memory so if you have memory with larger heatspreaders this cooler may not fit.
