be quiet! Shadow Rock 2 CPU Cooler Review

be quiet! Shadow Rock 2 Overview
The Shadow Rock 2 has a very interesting heatsink design. Normally we see tower type coolers have thinner fins that are like a rectangle, but with the Shadow Rock 2 they are designed like a square. This of course makes for a larger area to dissipate the heat generated by your CPU.

One very cool thing about this cooler is that the top is a piece of brushed aluminum. This will show if you have a window in your case and will let everyone know you are using a be quiet! CPU cooler. Cooling off the heatsink is a 120 be quiet! SilentWings fan. This fan operates at a max speed of 1600 RPM so it will be very quiet.

The fan is held on to the heatsink by metal clips. The fan can actually be mounted on any side of the cooler. If we take a look at the cooler from the side we can see that it is a bit wider than most tower coolers that we have looked at. You can also see the four large 8 mm copper heatpipes that go up into the heatsink stack.

The 4 heatpipes go right into the base of the cooler and come up the other side makes a “U” shape. The effectively takes the heat generated by your CPU and brings it up into the heatsink where it can be dissipated by the cooling fan.

The base of the cooler is made of copper and is nickel plated so it has a pretty slick mirror-like finish. After a close inspection the finish on it is flawless and there are no machine marks at all.
