be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 Overview
As I said the Dark Rock Pro 3 is one beast of a cooler. The official dimensions are 150 x 137 x 163 mm (L x W x H). You are going to want to make sure you have enough room inside of your case for this cooler before you go out and buy it.
At the front of the cooler is be quiet’s own 120 mm Silent Wings fan. The center fan is also a Silent Wings fan, but is a little larger at 135 mm. The Silent Wings fans feature an advanced copper core fluid dynamic bearing and dynamically-balanced impeller provide optimal cooling with deep serenity.
While most CPU coolers having a boring top, be quiet! has added a nice brushed aluminum top with their logo on it. This will show proudly if you have a case window.
Taking a look at the side of the cooler you can see just how wide it is and the two heatsink towers. Each tower is made up of aluminum fins. The center 135 mm fan features nine airflow-optimized fan blades and an innovative 6-pole motor for smoother operation and less vibration.
Taking a look at the back of the cooler we can see how the actual heatsink find are placed and designed. These are dynamic wave-contour cooling fins with small dots on the surface increase air circulation and contribute to high convection efficiency without raising overall noise.
Flipping the cooler over we can get a closer look at the base. As you can guess the base is made of nickel-plated copper and is extremely smooth, there are no visible machining marks. As you can see all of the heatpipes go right into the base.
There are a total of seven heatpipes, all of which are also made of nickel-plated copper. They are arranged in a “U” shape, as they start at the base of the cooler and go up into each heatsink tower.
As there are two fans with this cooler there is an attachment so you only have to plug a single cable in.
