ASUS has just unveiled a new “Gamer” line of motherboards. These will not be part of the Republic of Gamers line, but actually part of the Z87 and B85 series products. These boards will feature a black and red color scheme, but not as many features as the more expensive Republic of Gamers motherboards. ASUS wants to have entry and mid-range products that appeal to gamers much like other motherboard manufactures out there.
With that said ASUS has unveiled the B85-Pro Gamer motherboard. This ATX motherboard makes use of an 8-pase VRM, has four DDR3 DIMM slots, a single PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot, a PCI-Express 2.0 x4 slot, and two PCI-Express 2.0 x1 slots. Storage on the board come in the form of four SATA 6GB/s ports and two SATA 3GB/s ports. ASUS has included premium audio and networking on this board. There is a Intel I217V Gigabit Ethernet controller and SupremeFX audio with a 115 dBA SNR CODEC, electrolytic capacitors, a TI-made 300Ω headphones amp, and ground-layer isolation.
Other great features of the board include GameFirst II network packet prioritization software, Gamers Guardian which is a combination of ESD dampening circuits along the rear panel ports, DRAM over-current protection, and high-grade black solid-state capacitors.
ASUS has not revealed pricing on the B85-Pro motherboard.
