ASUS STRIX GTX 980 Ti Pictured With DirectCU III Cooler

We have been hearing about ASUS’s new DirectCU III technology for a few days and now we have a real photo of it! It will debut on the ASUS STRIX GTX 980 Ti graphics card. Unlike most graphics card cooling solutions from ASUS this new cooler will feature a triple-fan design. We assume that this new cooler was designed for AMD’s upcoming Radeon 300 Series, but as we said it will be found on the STRIX 980 Ti first.

The cooling solution is made up of a large aluminum fin stack that features large 10mm-thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes. The card is ventilated by three 100mm cooling fans that has independent speed controls via ASUS’s GPU Tweak tool. The cooler also features ASUS’s 0dB technology which means the fans won’t spin up unless the GPU temperature reaches 65C. The card has a backplate that has the ASUS STRIX logo on it.

The PCB of the card is actually 1.5x the size of the standard card height. The card will ship with a 15% factory overclock.
