ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K6+ Motherboard Review

Final Thoughts
The ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K6+ is a very solid motherboard and has many gaming-centric features that any gamer would appreciate. The first is that it does support quad-SLI and quad-CrossFire graphics card setups. So you can load this board up with three single GPU cards or two dual-GPU cards. Also it has support for some very fast DDR4 memory, topping out at 3866 MHz. Finally you have Killer E2400 Gaming Networking, which has proven to be better at reducing CPU load and comes with software to control what applications and games get priority over one another.

Moving on to other features you have a very strong 12-phase CPU VRM. This not only will provide stable power to your CPU, but also will allow you to overclock quite well. We were able to get our Core i7-6700K up to 4.7 GHz stable. ASRock makes use of premium 60A power chokes and Nichicon 12K Platinum caps. The Purity Sound 3 audio solution is quite good as well.

I did really like the updated BIOS on this board. It is the first ASRock board that I’ve reviewed that has the EZ Mode and I’m glad more motherboard makers are incorporating modes like that into their BIOS’s. It really helps out beginners who may be afraid of jumping into the full BIOS. There is a clear CMOS jumper on the board, but also a clear CMOS button on the rear I/O. The button is great and it means you don’t have to open your case up or mess with a jump to clear your CMOS. Having the USB 3.1 panel is sort of nice as well since most cases do not have Type-C USB ports on them.

The only real downfall of this board I would say is the software. For one the F-Stream software is sort of clunky and the version that we downloaded off the website (3.0.15) does not have a tools tab, which is clearly shown on the product page. Also the Fatal1ty Mouse port software is nowhere to be found on the ASRock website. It does show up in the APP Shop, but when we click to download it, it gives us a not found error.

At the end of the day this board is selling for just over $200 at our favorite online retailer. It has all of the major features you would want on a Z170 motherboard and some great gaming features as well. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K6+ Motherboard a 9 out of 10 score.
