The ASRock 890FX Deluxe5 AMD Motherboard has a variety of features, including support for 8-core CPUs and AM3+ processor support, two USB 3.0 ports, three PCI-Express 2.0 slots, six SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports, and on board power/reset buttons as well as a Dr. Debug indicator. The board itself has a brown PCB with an alternating blue and white slot coloring.
One of the first things you’ll probably notice is the large heatsink next to the CPU. A heatsink over the northbridge has a heatpipe that extends around the corner and to the left side of the CPU slot. This larger heatsink while provides cooling by default, can also have a small (included) fan for additional northbridge cooling. After installing several CPU coolers on this motherboard I have found this large heatsink to be a bit of a hassle for the larger, wider coolers.
Working the way down the right side of the motherboard are your four DDR3 slots which support DDR3 2000(OC)/1866(OC)/1800(OC)/1600(OC)/1333/1066/800. You’ll also find your 20/24 pin power connector as well as your onboard USB 2.0 connections. Further down is a PATA connection as well as your six SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports.
Around the corner is your Southbridge heatsink, power/reset buttons, Dr. Debug LED, on board USB 3.0 connection and your case hookups. Further to the left are the floppy and serial connections as well as two more SATA3 connections.
The board supports CrossFire, including the 3-Way with the three PCI-Express 2.0 slots. Additionally you’ll find two PCI-E x1 slots and another two PCI slots, so you have a little bit of the old and a little bit of the new with this motherboard.
The external connections on this board include PS2 mouse/keyboard ports, clear CMOS button, optical and coaxial SPDIF out, six USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit LAN, Firewire and eSATA ports as well as your 7.1 audio connections.
